Philip Marcus Ho [April 13, 1938 - April 26, 1990]
Phil Ho was a Tai Chi Master, and he was my dad.
Father Time
Yesterday I knew that he was a Master,
And that Master was my dad.
Today he smiled at me and said,
I am your father.
He was still wearing that worn uniform,
Which reminds me of Yoda’s comfortable green skin.
And those kung fu shoes were on his feet,
Stylish yet functional in keeping with his personality.
He was my dad,
And he happened to dress as a Tai Chi Master.
In his face I saw my brother smile,
In his hands I saw my sister push.
He told me a truth,
Which told me who I am.
If I happen to be master of none,
I will always be his daughter.
Tomorrow I will see my mother and not see my father,
But surely she will see him in me.
