Black Lives Matter
My watch stopped working last March
but I can still tell it is time,
time to stop watching,
time to start marching,
time to keep watch for our neighbors
working on the front line,
time to keep saying what matters...
Black Lives Matter
How many days, years, decades, centuries,
have passed since we were asked to stay safe
at home and dream of yesterdays?
How many times do we have to count the loss
of another someone we counted on who was
not safe even at home and will not live out their
dreams tomorrow?!
Say her name.
Breonna Taylor
I try to stand up
but can't see clearly
through the smoke and tears,
find it hard to breathe
through the mask of fears,
but at least I can
while they could not.
Say his name.
George Floyd
Today is another day
to count the countless voices
shouting in grief and anger,
to hear the silent screams
of personal loss and societal injustice,
to shatter the broken systems
that spike the fever of our existence.
What do we miss today?
100,000+ souls
Mother Earth is hurting
her children are crying
for we all need healing
from who we are
to who we can be
for each other
with all the vivid colors of our ancestors...
Are we ready to fight with the light of love?
rainbow warriors

Here we are today, still RESISTING in the face of 2+ pandemics! I am grateful for the Love of my family and friends, the Community Care Circles of Women of Color in the Arts (WOCA), Centering Justice gatherings of NEW, and my Taiko Community for sustaining my dreams for a joyous tomorrow. ~Eileen into 2022
